Making Spirits Bright

You know what's neat? Making a quick stop after work to get my love a little surprise because my heart is just so full of love for her today, only to find when I got home that she had the same idea.

We have been talking about putting up Christmas lights outside, but it just hasn't happened yet. Today, she spent her lunch break hanging a string of lights around our back door on top of starting the crock pot chicken noodle soup so we can enjoy it together later.

The neatest part about that heartwarming little story is that this kind of thing happens all the time. It's no secret that we don't get to spend a lot of quality time together, and sometimes that really sucks. We know that it is a fact of life, and we make the best of it. We regularly leave each other little surprises, cards, a letter in our notebook or do something extra when we aren't together, which tends to make the other one's heart real melty and makes the time we do have together that much better.

We have really enjoyed decorating and making plans for our first Christmas together, and so far it is making spirits bright around here. We worked together to make our house cozy and festive, we have both already gone above and beyond to make Christmas morning special with meaningful and thoughtful gifts, and we have all of our plans in place to enjoy Christmas with each other and both of our families.
I really couldn't ask for a better partner, she is the greatest blessing in my life. We are so blessed to have each other and we cherish what little time we get together.

Ok enough holiday sunshine and rainbows, please don't vomit on our Christmas decorations.
